So I have officially been on the internet with my art as of two years ago. Boy, let me tell you that was quite a feat for me being completely technologically inept. So today marks a big day for me, writing my very first blog!! Woohoo!
I thought I'd take you on the journey of how I go about making my art. I am starting a new piece, a painting at that. I've decided to do it in acrylic paint which should be intresting because:
A. I haven't been doing a lot of painting.
B. I used to be very familar with acrylic as it was what I preferred in the past; but I havent used in years.
C. This is my first time sharing each stage of this process with others (besides my husband), so it can be a little unnerving but should be exciting too!
These 11x8 canvases has been boggling my mind for quite sometime. Beautiful blank papers, canvases, wood blocks stare at me in my studio, begging for art. But, it can be intimidating for me sometimes because I want to be able to match the perfect creative idea with its "vessel", if you will.
It finally came to me the, as they always do when my eyes want to sleep so badly but my mind is racing with images and thoughts. For this reason I keep a notebook by my bedside table. With these paticular canvases I was inspired by a painting of a woman with stars shooting out of her. Ok, reading back on that it sounds really weird, I wish I had a picture it, it's hard to explain. Also I have been dying to use these confetti stars I have been carrying around with me for quite sometime. So what I have envisioned is some kind of monster creature standing on a hillside shouting into the night as a slew of stars fly out of his mouth into the sky. I have considered making actual constellations, but the painting will lead me to where it wants to go once I get to that point.
Never stop creating!
